Turkey: Peace School, July 2017

Mehmet A., coordinator of the Servas Peace School writes that Servas Turkey’s yearly peace programme was recently held in Ekinci Antakya. The Turkish newspaper Gazeta Duvar reported that local and international Servas volunteers met in a village where gardens, backyards and streets form the peace campus and volunteers share their knowledge with local children aged 5-14. Topics range from peace, languages, music, dances, nature, recycling, human rights, drama, toy making, drawing, traditional games, creating short movies, photography and astronomy. Local families hosted the volunteers so they could experience Turkish culture, family life, food, and customs. In exchange, volunteers shared their own cultures with their hosts.
